I created this history of my Great-Grandfather Heber C. Taylor because I wanted to have something for my grandchildren that would hold their interest. When this project is complete with all of my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, I will create a book for each one of my grandchildren.
This is my Great-Grandmother, Eliza Baird Taylor's history page.
My Mom loved to cook and she loved creating favorite family recipes. She willingly shared every recipe except for this one. For years friends and family asked her for her Strawberry Pie recipe but she refused to give it out. When she died my sister and I decided we didn't want the recipe to die with her so we printed it and gave it out at her funeral. I may be in trouble when I get to the other side, but I think she will just be glad people remembered what a great cook she was.
When I was eight years-old the Plain City Ward split into the Plain City 1st and 2nd. This was a huge change for the residents who had gone to church together for several decades. The two new RS presidencies decided to create a ward cookbook. I'm so blessed that our Mom bought one for my sister and me. There are many recipes from our grandma's and dear ward sisters who have long since passed away.
When I retired I decided to recreate the book for my children (complete with pictures of our ward building which has since been torn down).
Many of those women's descendants also wanted the book so I sold it for my cost. Even now, every so often, someone will ask to buy a copy. I'm so happy that these beloved recipes will last far into the future.
In 2014 I started documenting
the stories of the
6000+ Weber County Men and Women who served in World War II. 160 of our
boys lost their lives.
I'm currently finishing Volume 3 of the four-volume series.
The stories are inspiring and heartbreaking. They also tell stories of bravery from men who completed their missions and returned home.
